Side Walker
A side walker walks along side the horse assisting the rider in maintaining balance. Depending on the rider’s abilities, you may be assisting a lot or a little. This is a great opportunity to get to know both the horses and the riders as well as other staff members.
Horse Leader
A Horse Leader leads the horse with the rider and side wakers. The leader stays even with the horse’s head and ensures that the pace of the horse is appropriate for the riders and side walkers. Generally horse leaders have worked for some time as side walkers so they can grow accustomed to each rider’s abilities and the horse’s personality.
Maintenance
Helper
​Maintenance Helpers help out around the facility doing various odd jobs. This could be anything from repairing loose boards on a stall to fixing gates and trimming trees. If you are handy with tools, then this is a great volunteer opportunity for you!
Barn Helper
Barn helpers assist with cleaning the stables, brushing the horses, and cleaning the riding equipment. If you have ever thought about having a horse of your own, being a barn helper can give you the experience to be a great horse owner!
